Charles Atlas exercises are often confused with isometric exercises. Many people are under the mistaken belief that the Charles Atlas "Dynamic Tension" body building course consisted of 100% isometric exercises. Nothing could be further from the truth!
In fact, most of the training program consisted of body weight exercises. Although, Charles Atlas confessed in court that he had also used exercise equipment such as, free weights, dumbbells, chest expander's and other exercise machines to develop his "Perfect Physique."
It is difficult at best to develop strong muscles using free hand isometrics and bodyweight exercises. No matter what some "so-called" isometric gurus will tell you no one has ever developed a physique of notable worth without utilizing progressive resistance. It is just impossible to increase in strength and muscle size with just body weight exercises and free hand isometrics.
Charles Atlas's exercises can be used to develop your physique if you are brand-new to the world of bodybuilding. At some point, you will need to utilize isometric exercise equipment, resistance bands or free weights in order to continue developing strength and muscularity.
I cannot stress this enough!
Most of the Charles Atlas's exercises consisted of the exercises that you perform to a grammar school or high school gym class. Push-ups, situps, and chin-ups are the staple of the dynamic tension course. Nothing revolutionary here in fact, most of the Charles Atlas exercise program can be found online for free.
You are better off investing in an isometric exerciser or a good set of resistance bands and wasting your hard-earned dollar on Charles Atlas's exercises.
