Ryan Reynolds the comedian and actor (whose wife is Scarlett Johansson) — has been showing off his new rock hard muscular body lately.

In a recent interview, Reynolds revealed what he did to get in shape for his role in Blade Trinity and also for X-Men origins Wolverine (where he plays the character Deadpool.)

Whether you’re a guy or gal, you may want to take notes because in this article you will discover all the “Workout and Diet Secrets” that he used to completely transform his body.

Ryan Reynolds Ab Blasting the Secret

If you have been looking to get six pack abs or just a flatter stomach … then read on because here is how Ryan Reynolds did it!

In fact, keep reading because you will also discover one of the best exercises that you can perform to get rid of that pooch or beer belly. (It’s the same exact exercise that he used.)

Now bear in mind Ryan Reynolds only had five months to get in shape for his role in blade Trinity. His nutritional program consisted of eating every 2 to 3 hours and never allowing himself to be hungry.

Ryan Reynolds Diet Secret

This is very important — by eating every few hours you keep your metabolism burning throughout the entire day.

Many of today’s top fitness models, natural bodybuilders and A-list Hollywood celebrities use this type of nutrition program. The greatest benefit from eating every 2 to 3 hours is that you will not be craving bad unhealthy food.

Needless to say, the Ryan Reynolds diet consisted of clean and healthy foods. For example… for breakfast he would enjoy a meal of egg whites with oatmeal.

If you want to spice it up a little you can add some Splenda and cinnamon… this makes for a very tasty and nutritious treat early in the morning.

Personally I prefer rice oatmeal.

The Most Important Element in Getting Rid of Body Fat

One crucial element whenever you are dieting is to make sure you drink plenty of water. Drinking water has many benefits.

One — it makes you feel full and two — it keeps you hydrated and it is easier flush away all the toxins and fats that your body will be releasing. One of Ryan Reynolds favorite snacks are protein bars or making himself a delicious protein shake.

He uses a whey protein supplement and he  also uses creatine to help his muscles grow and the ATP that you get from creatine helps him in performing explosive exercises.

For lunch he would typically enjoy a meal of skinless chicken breasts, vegetables and some brown rice. At dinnertime he have a meal of either more chicken, salmon, or trout (choose a fish that is high in omega-3) and a large salad.

Ryan Reynolds Workout Secrets

Of course you cannot just rely on dieting to develop a muscular and ripped body.

Mr. Reynolds also performed resistance training — usually his workouts were 2 to 3 hours long. (Remember he only had five months to get in shape)

One of the secrets he revealed about how he got his six pack abs was … his workouts would begin with 500 to 1000 situps. Reynolds revealed that he preferred to do his ab workout before his resistance training because he found it to be “meditative.”

Make sure that in your training program that you include training for your lower abs since typically in men this is one of the hardest areas to target.

At Last, Ryan Reynolds Abs Blasting Secret Revealed!

One of the stomach exercises that his trainer had him perform was as follows… to place an exercise ball between your legs, then lift it up and down.

Using a stability ball can add variety and is very effective at building your core muscles. Whenever I perform this particular exercise I find it has an incredible effect on my lower abdominal area.

And I’m usually quite sore the next few days after having performed it.

Next up for Mr. Reynolds is resistance training. The goal here was to add more muscle mass. Ryan has always been thin so there was no need for cardio this time. His trainer had him do know cardio whatsoever.

They focused on getting him bigger and one of the tools they used was adding extra protein into his diet.

His resistance training workout consisted of weight training and isometric exercises for strength. Typically he would perform 12 repetitions and by the way he worked out six days per week.

His personal trainer put him on a program that focused on one body part per day (that’s why he worked out six days per week) personally I enjoy working out the same way.

By performing one body part per workout you will have more energy to hit that particular muscle group harder.

After Blade Trinity Ryan Reynolds slacked off and did not maintain the hard muscular body that he had created. In his recent role in the movie X-Men origins Wolverine Reynolds came back just as lean but more muscular by making some changes to his training program…

In my next article, I will give you more details about his workout program for X-Men origins Wolverine for his role as Deadpool.

This is a great article about Ryan Reynolds workout program. I understand that Ryan Reynolds used isometric training as part of his workout program, do you know if this is true?

Many celebrity workouts, in my opinion; utilize Arnold Schwarzenegger’s principal of “Iso-Tension.” Arnold, was a big proponent of tensing his muscles and holding the tension for seconds after each exercise.

Let’s face it, celebrity workouts are great if you are on a “Multimillion Dollar Studio Budget.” The rest of us who can barely afford a gym membership, must look for a different option. One of the best ones I have found, besides the Bully Xtreme; is the Bodylastics resistance bands. Check out my website and read my review of the Bully Xtreme and the Bodylastics resistance bands.
