Therefore, if someone tries to tell you that you can grow bigger and stronger without adding additional resistance to your workouts — run from them — they are just fools.
Your body will quickly adapt to your existing bodyweight and the force that it can apply.
There are ways to make bodyweight exercises more effective. One way, is to wear a "weighted vest" or to use resistance bands. If for example you were doing push ups you can have someone place weights on your back for additional resistance.
Olympic Athletes and Isometric Training Equipment
Bob Hoffman, former Olympic power lifting coach, publisher of "Strength and Health Magazines" and owner of the York Barbell Company… recognized the importance of using Isometric Training Equipment in his Olympic strength training program.
For this, he created the "Isometric Power Rack" and later on published a book called "Functional Isometrics." In his book he detailed how his power lifting team use isometric equipment to achieve better results than traditional isotonic training.
